Seated on a throne carved with lions and sunflowers, the Queen of Wands holds the wand in one hand and an open sunflower in the other; at her feet, a black cat stares straight out. Knees apart, back straight, expression calm. This is Fire that no longer needs to prove anything: warmth that draws people in, confidence that spreads, a light that holds itself up.
Symbolism
- The sunflower: vitality, joy and the ability to keep turning toward the light.
- The black cat: intuition, independence and ease with the hidden; the shadow made part of the whole.
- The lions on the throne: strength and nobility; authority that does not need to roar.
- The open posture: confidence in one’s own body and one’s own desire.
- Correspondences: the element of Fire; the stage of the suit that sustains and nurtures, not tied to any gender.
Upright meaning
Upright, the Queen of Wands speaks of confidence, charisma and warmth. As an energy, it invites you to take your place without asking permission, to shine, and to inspire others with your enthusiasm. As a person, it is someone magnetic, generous, independent and loyal, who leads by setting the tone rather than giving orders. It is a card of mature creativity and desire lived without guilt.
Reversed meaning
Reversed, the sunflower wilts. It can point to insecurity hidden behind a mask of strength, jealousy, control, or a temper that scorches anyone who gets close. It also appears as burnout: so much light given to others that you ran out of fire for yourself. It is time to return to your center and ask where your worth comes from when no one is applauding.
In love
Upright, this is passion with roots: a relationship with admiration, desire and room for each person to be who they are. If you are single, your appeal is high; someone warm and self-assured may approach, or you may be the one who makes the move. Reversed, it signals possessiveness, drama, competition within the couple, or the feeling of giving far more than you get back.
In work and money
It is excellent for leading teams, starting a business, and any work where charisma and creativity count. It points to recognition and the ability to turn ideas into a venture on your own enthusiasm. With money, it brings the confidence to invest in your talent. Reversed, it warns of scattered focus, trouble delegating, or a workplace where ego weighs more than the work.
The card’s advice
Trust your warmth and spend it generously, without dimming yourself so others are not dazzled. Light that is truly yours is not used up by being shared.
