Six of Wands – Minor Arcana

A rider moves forward crowned with laurel, a second wreath at the top of his wand, while a crowd surrounds him raising their own wands high. The horse wears a green cloth and walks with a steady step. The Six of Wands is Fire recognized: the moment effort becomes visible and others celebrate it with you.

Symbolism

  • The laurel wreath: victory and honor that were earned, not handed over.
  • The upright rider: confidence and leadership that hold themselves without apparent strain.
  • The crowd: public recognition; the achievement is shared and validated.
  • The horse’s green cloth: growth and the energy still alive to carry on.
  • Correspondences: the element of Fire; the decan of Jupiter in Leo.

Upright meaning

Upright, the Six of Wands announces success, recognition and good news. You got past the obstacles of the Five and now comes the applause: a promotion, an award, a project approved, confirmation that you are on the right road. It speaks of well-earned self-esteem and leadership that others accept. Enjoy it, but remember that the parade is still moving.

Reversed meaning

Reversed, the laurel wilts. It can mean recognition is not coming even though you deserve it, that you depend too heavily on other people’s approval, or that pride is starting to cloud your judgment. It also points to hollow victories, falls from the pedestal, or fear of failing now that you have won. Check who you are parading for and whether the goal is still your own.

In love

Upright, the couple gets past a conflict and comes out stronger; there is mutual admiration and a wish to show the relationship to the world. If you are single, it announces that someone notices and values you, or a pursuit that goes well. Reversed, one of you needs more validation than they are getting, there is competition instead of support, or the relationship is lived more for others than for the two of you.

In work and money

This is a card of professional achievement: goals met, projects approved, promotions, and a reputation on the rise. It favors those who have worked steadily and know how to take credit without stepping on anyone. With money, it announces rewards for effort. Reversed, it warns of credit taken by others, success that costs more than it gives, or resting on old laurels.

The card’s advice

Accept recognition with gratitude and without inflating yourself. Every victory is a station along the road, not the destination; keep riding.
